Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU)

Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, is one of the oldest cities in China, with more than 3,100 years of history. Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history. Xi'an is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Since the 1990s, as part of the economic revival of interior China especially for the central and northwest regions, the city of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region, with facilities for research and development, national security and China's space exploration program.

Shaanxi Normal University, situated in Xi’an, was established in 1944. It is a key universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China, and supported by both national “211 project” and “985 innovation platform”. The university owns 21 colleges, 2 departments of basic teaching, 18 working stations for post-doctors, 15 first level and 103 second level disciplines entitled to confer doctor degrees. The University has one of the most beautiful campuses in west China, and possesses advanced facilities, high quality logistics support, and free WIFI across campus. SNNU has its own elite affiliated high school, primary school and kindergarten to provide sound fundamental education for the children of the employees.

College of Life Sciences

College of Life Sciences is one of the biggest science Colleges of Shaanxi Normal University. It has a faculty of 107 with an enrollment of about 580 graduate students and 1700 undergraduate students. The College has two first level disciplines including biology and ecology entitled to confer doctor degrees, and 11 second level disciplines including zoology, botany, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and microbiology. It owns scientific working stations for post-doctoral scientists in biology and ecology, and national key cultivating discipline in zoology. The College has established multiple research centers and platforms for molecular biology of plant, integrated zoology and applied zoology, cell biology and development, gene therapy, brain and behavior sciences, molecular genetics and epigenetics, etc. In the last few years, the College has accomplished about 130 research programs with governmental supports such as 973 and 863 programs, National Science and Technology Pillar project, Spark Projects, and Natural Science Foundation of China, etc., and publish about 100 scientific articles in journals such as Cell, Plant physiology, Human gene therapy, PNAS, Cancer gene therapy, and Annals of botany. It has invested 60 million Yuan in the construction of shared facilities and resources that provide services, equipment and expertise.

Qualification: The successful candidates will have a doctorate in a related field, and are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and demonstrate research capabilities.

Duties: Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required. Successful candidates will develop and promote individual sponsored research initiatives as well as participate in research teams with other faculty.
